Driving about 2 hours from Rome it's possible to reach the Umbria region a beautiful place where it's possible admire its countryside with olive oil and wine plants. A lot of little town with ancient churches and medieval villages make thi area very pictoresque.
Perugia is the capital of the Umbria region and is rich of monuments and interesting sites. Assisi is the city where the Saint Francis was born and there are a lot of interesting churches and basilica.
Driving from Rome, before to reach Assisi a stop in Orvieto could be a very interesting visit in this little city builded up an hill, to admire its beautiful Dome, and maybe to taste the very good white wine "Orvieto classico".
